Paul Waters was Gwen Waters father. He suffered from extreme alcoholism, which caused him to become so disoriented that he urinated in a walk-in cooler in a convenience store.
Before Season 1[]
Earl lied to Paul after shooting Gwen with a BB gun, saying that a bird fell and hit her. After this, her father never trusted her to tell the truth again ("BB").
Season 1[]
Earl helped to reunite Gwen with her father, with whom she had become estranged. He managed to tow Paul's trailer to Gwen's place of work, the courthouse, and she saw that she should not be angry at him as he got what he deserved for leaving her mother when she was younger. She told Earl to cross her off the List.
